Leading water cooler supplier Angel Springs helped Cancer Research fundraisers tackle the marathon Relay for Life in Aylesbury earlier last month.
Angel Springs donated 480 sports cap water bottles for runners to drink during the local Relay event.
Relay for Life events take place up and down the country, helping to raise cash for Cancer Research.
The Relay involves running continuously round a track for up to 24 hours straight. Teams take it in turns, doing ‘shifts’ on the track until the time is up.
One of the most important factors in endurance running is refreshment: decent water intake is crucial to help keep up stamina and prevent dehydration.
So to help runners tackling the relay, Angel Springs donated almost 500 sports cap water bottles for runners to drink.
Almost 300 people took part in the event, at Chiltern View Nursery in Aylesbury, on July 7 and 8. The location for the Relay moved this year: it is usually held at Weston Turville Rugby Club.
Angel Springs got involved with the event as part of its Angels in the Community charity scheme. Angels in the Community helps local charities and volunteer groups, either through product donations, or staff salary-giving schemes.
This event was chosen because of its proximity to Angel Springs’ Hemel Hampstead facility.
John Murphy, commercial director for Angel Springs, explained: “The Relay for Life is one of the most challenging, but rewarding charity ‘fun runs’. A lot of these events are often limited to a set distance – but Relay for Life pushes fundraisers to keep going, right through the night.
“The battle against cancer doesn’t stop for sleep: and neither does Relay for Life. This is a popular local fundraising event and Angel Springs is delighted to support Cancer Research.
“Of course, setting up water coolers at the event wasn’t an option: but we supply sports cap water bottles to a number of high-profile sports teams, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, and were more than happy to help Relay runners with a donation.”
